The petitioner has approached this Court assailing order dated 22.2.2023 (Annexure P-1) passed by learned Additional District Magistrate, District Gurdaspur vide which an application moved by the petitioner seeking issuance of arms license has been dismissed.

Although the petitioner is stated to have filed an appeal (Annexure P-2) before the District Magistrate, District Gurdaspur but learned counsel for the petitioner has submitted that no decision has been taken on the same till date. 3.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner is an ExServiceman and retired from the post of 'Naib Subedar' from Indian Army. It has further been submitted that the petitioner during the course of his service had been handling weapons and had never misused any such weapon and has never been involved in any criminal case till date. Having considered the submissions addressed before this Court and while noticing that the appeal filed by the petitioner is pending, the instant petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2 - District Magistrate, District Gurdaspur to consider the appeal (Annexure P-2) filed by the petitioner challenging order dated 22.2.2023 passed by learned Additional District Magistrate, District Gurdaspur to dispose of the same expeditiously in accordance with law.

A copy of this order alongwith copy of grounds of appeal be conveyed to respondent No.2 - District Magistrate, District Gurdaspur for necessary compliance.
