( Oral ) On oral request of the counsel for the petitioners, "State of Punjab" mentioned as respondent No.1 in the Memo of Parties, be read as "State of Haryana."

The Registry is directed to make the necessary correction in the Memo of Parties.

The petitioners have approached this Court seeking protection of their life and liberty on the premise that petitioner No.1 has performed marriage with petitioner No.2 against the wishes of her parents and other family members and the petitioners are apprehending threat to their life and liberty at their instance.

CRWP-8369-2020 -2Learned counsel for the petitioners has submitted that a representation dated 8.3.2020 (Annexure P-4) was made to the Superintendent of Police, Nuh, District Mewat seeking necessary protection but no action has been taken so far in the matter. Heard.

Without examining the question of validity or otherwise of marriage of the petitioners, the present petition stands disposed of with a direction to the Superintendent of Police, Nuh, District Mewat to look into the grievance of the petitioners expressed in the representation (Annexure P-4) and take appropriate action, if any, warranted in the circumstances. The Superintendent of Police, Nuh, District Mewat is further directed to arrange a meeting of respondent No. 4 with petitioner No.1, in case any such application is moved.

It is made clear that in case any FIR is registered against petitioner No.2, it will be open for the police authorities to take action, in accordance with law.
