ARUN MONGA, J. (ORAL) This is petitioner's first foray before this Court under Section 438 Cr.P.C. for grant of anticipatory bail in case FIR No.37dated 25.03.2023, registered under Section 379-B IPC at Police Station Division No.4, (Lahori Gate), District Patiala.

Brief facts of the case are that FIR in question was registered against the petitioner on the basis of statement of complainant Harjit Kaur. On 23.03.2023, she was standing at Bus stop Khanda Chowk, Near Gurudwara Dukhniwaran Sahib, Patiala. Three/four ladies were standing near her. When the complainant was boarding the bus, one out of those unidentified ladies all of a sudden pushed her and snatched the gold chain weighing about 2 tolas from her neck and complainant fell down on the road and sustained internal injury on her left elbow. Upon her raising hue and cry, all the three/four women sat in a car and fled away from the spot. Upon inquiry, she got to know that the said women were snatchers and name of one of them is Lacho (present petitioner).

Learned State counsel, at the outset, submits that reply/status report dated 27.07.2023 by way of affidavit of Sanjeev Singla, PPS, Deputy Superintendent of Police, City-1, District Patiala on behalf of respondent-State VANDANA 2023.08.16 18:29 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document
CRM-M-32311-2023 (O&M) 2023:PHHC:104413 of Punjab is already on record. She opposes the prayer made and submits that petitioner has committed serious offence and does not deserve concession of anticipatory bail.

Relevant part of the status report is reproduced hereinbelow: "6.
That as per verification of record, apart from present FIR, many other FIRs are already registered against the petitioner including offences of similar nature, which shows that the petitioner is a habitual criminal and indulged in the criminal activities since long.

That the present petitioner has committed a heinous offence as she in connivance with her accomplices committed snatching of gold chain of the complainant. Moreover, the petitioner and her accomplices have formed a gang and they are creating havoc in the society.

That the custodial interrogation of the petitioner is required in the matter so as to affect recovery of gold chain, as such, the petitioner is not entitled to the relief of anticipatory bail."

In view of the aforesaid, no concession of anticipatory bail can be accorded to the petitioner. Keeping in view the age, character, antecedents of the petitioner, no grounds are made out to interfere. Antecedents of the petitioner and her past conduct do not entitle her to grant of indulgence by this Court.
