The petitioners are residents of village Pakki Tibbi, Tehsil Malout, District Sri Muktsar Sahib. The Sarpanch and two members Panchayat are also amongst the petitioners. They allege that large scale encroachment has been made on Gram Panchayat land and the authorities/District Administration are taking no action for removal of such encroachments. Since the petition has been filed on behalf of the Gram Panchayat and its Office bearers are amongst the petitioners, it appears to us that the Gram Panchayat has got efficacious alternative remedy to initiate eviction proceedings against the encroachers under Section 7 of the Punjab Village Common Lands (Regulation) Act, 1961. If such a petition is/are filed by the Gram Panchayat, we direct the Assistant Collector Ist Grade to Meenu 2017.07.20 13:53 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this document chandigarh
