HON'BLE MR. JUSTICE GURVINDER SINGH GILL Present:- Mr. Mandeep Singh, Advocate, for the petitioners. (Proceedings conducted through video conferencing) ***** GURVINDER SINGH GILL, J . (Oral) Petitioner No.1-Manish aged 18 years and petitioner No.2-Renu Devi aged 23 years, have approached this Court seeking issuance of a direction to official respondents to protect their lives and liberty as they apprehend threat to the same at the hands of private respondents No.4 to 7. Learned counsel for the petitioners has submitted that the petitioners are fond of each other and are having a love affair and intend to marry after petitioner No.1 attains marriageable age. It has been submitted that the private respondents were however, pressurizing petitioner No.2 to marry a boy of their choice which was not acceptable to petitioner No.

2 and petitioner No.2 apprehending her forcible marriage left the parental home and is presently residing with petitioner No.1 in a 'live-in' relationship. It has been submitted that the private respondents however, have been issuing threat to eliminate the petitioners and although a representation Annexure PMOHAN SINGH 2021.09.

- 2 - CRWP-8710-2021 (O&M) 5 was submitted by them to Superintendent of Police, Kurukshetra, but to no avail.

Having heard the learned counsel for the petitioners and while refraining from making any expression as regards the veracity of the averments made in the petition, the petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2 i.e. Superintendent of Police, Kurukshetra, to look into the matter and to dispose of the representation dated 9.9.2021 (Annexure P-5) in accordance with law. In case, it is found that there is any genuine threat to the lives and liberty of the petitioners at the hands of respondents No.4 to 7, then necessary steps warranted under law be taken thereupon at the earliest so as to ensure that no harm is caused to the petitioners. A copy of this order alongwith copy of the representation dated 9.9.2021 be sent to Superintendent of Police, Kuruskhetra (respondent No.2), so as to enable him to do the needful expeditiously. It is, however, clarified that the aforesaid order shall not confer any immunity upon the petitioners, in case it is found that they have committed any wrong.
