1. The petitioner who is working as Steno-Typist Grade-I seeks issuance of a writ in the nature of Mandamus directing the respondents to promote him as a Senior Assistant from the date when his immediate juniors have been promoted.

2. Learned counsel for the petitioner has submitted that some identically situated persons have approached this Court by way of filing CWP-60812023 which has been dispsoed of with a direction to the respondents to consider the case of the petitioner in terms of the observations made by a Division Bench of this Court in judgment rendered in LPA No.411 of 2017 titled as State of Punjab and another Vs. Gulzar Singh and others decided on 10.02.2023.

4. Upon an advance copy of petition having been supplied to State, Mr. Inderpreet Singh Kang, AAG, Punjab has put in appearance on behalf of MOHAN SINGH 2023.07.14 16:54 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this order/judgment

CWP-14748-2023 (O&M) ( 2 ) 2023:PHHC:088109 respondents and has submitted that representation dated 19.4.2023 (Annexure P-12) shall be considered by the authorities concerned in accordance with law and in accordance with the dictum of this Court in Gulzar Singh's case (supra).

In view of the aforestated submission, the instant petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2-The Director General of Police, Punjab to consider and dispose of the representation dated 19.4.2023 (Annexure P-12) in accordance with law while also bearing in mind the ratio of the judgment rendered by this Court in Gulzar Singh's case expeditiously, preferably within a period of 3 months from today. In case the petitioner is found entitled to promotion, the consequential benefits shall also be extended to him.
