RAJESH BHARDWAJ, J.(ORAL) Present petition has been filed under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India praying for directing respondents no.2 and 3 to protect the life and liberty of the petitioners from the hands of respondents no.4 to 7. It is further prayed to direct respondents No.2 and 3 to conduct expeditious and impartial probe into the complaint made by petitioner No.1. It is also prayed to direct respondents No.2 and 3 to ensure that there should be no infringement of human rights of the petitioners at the instance of respondents No.4 to 7 and to decide the representation of the petitioners, dated 14.05.2024, in accordance with law.

Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that the petitioners have already filed the representation, dated 14.05.2024, Annexure P-5 before respondent No.2 for redressal of their grievances but till today no action has been taken on the same.

CRWP-6308-2024 -2On asking of the Court, Mr.Tarun Aggarwal, Sr.DAG, Punjab, who is present in Court, accepts notice on behalf of the State. Without entering upon an exercise to evaluate the evidentiary value of the documents placed on the file, I dispose of the petition with a direction to respondent no.2, i.e. Commissioner of Police, District Amritsar, to decide the representation (Annexure P-5) of the petitioners within one month from today and in the meantime grant them protection, if any threat to their life and liberty is perceived. It is clarified that this order shall not be taken to grant immunity to the petitioners from legal action for violation of law, if any, committed by them.
