The prayer in the present writ petition is for issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus directing the official respondents to act upon the order dated 08.03.2018 (Annexure P-1).

On 01.12.2022 the following order was passed : 'It is noticed that a three member committee was constituted to consider the eligibility of 42 beneficiaries and as per report submitted by the Block Development and Panchayats Officer, Ferozepur, only 13 beneficiaries were found eligible. As per order/memo dated 29.05.2018, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development), Ferozepur directed the BDPO, Ferozepur to call the

-2general meeting of Gram Sabha and prepare a list of eligible beneficiaries and send the case to the office for approval. It is further stated therein that it should also be certified that apart from the persons recommended, there is no other person eligible for allotment of the plot. Learned counsel for the State submits that the matter is still under consideration and inquires are being conducted. However, he is unable to explain the reasons for such delay.

Let the matter be looked into by a senior officer i.e. the Deputy Commissioner, Ferozepur and report be submitted well before the next date of hearing.

Pursuant to the said order, a short reply by way of an affidavit dated 10.03.2026 of Sh. Partap Singh, Block Development and Panchayat Officer, Ferozepur, District Ferozepur has been filed wherein it has been stated that in compliance of the interim order dated 01.12.2022, a report has been submitted by the Deputy Commissioner, Ferozepur dated 10.11.2025 and as per the said report thirteen people were found eligible. Out of the said thirteen persons, one has expired and one is currently not residing at the village concerned.

In view of the affidavit filed, no further orders are required to be passed in the present writ petition and the same is disposed off as such. Pending applications, if any, also stand disposed off.

Needless to say, the petitioners would always be at liberty to avail the remedies as available in law.
