(Oral) Petitioner-Jatinder Singh has filed the present petition under Section 528 of the BNSS for seeking fair and effective investigation in DDR No.14 dated 12.04.2026 pertaining to his missing daughter namely Shinepreet Kaur.

On 20.05.2026, this Court passed the following order:- "i) xxx ii) Petitioner's daughter, namely Shinepreet Kaur, who is barely 18 years of age, is presently residing in the house of respondents No. 4 to 7, who are neighbours of the petitioner. Being the father, it is extremely painful for the petitioner that his daughter is residing in the same locality with respondent No.4, namely Sachin, without having solemnized marriage with him. It is further submitted that even the petitioner's request to
meet his daughter once has not been acceded to by the private respondents under the garb of the protection order dated 09.04.2026 passed by a Coordinate Bench of this Court in CRWP-4139-2026.
iii) Notice of motion for 02.07.2026.
iv) Mr. Neeraj Madaan, learned Senior DAG, Punjab, appears on behalf of the respondent-State.
v) Respondent No. 4 is directed to remain present before this Court on the date fixed along with his live-in partner, namely Shinepreet Kaur."

Today petitioner's daughter Shinepreet Kaur and respondent No.4-Sachin son of Surinderpal Singh, both have come present before this Court and expressed their willingness to stay together. Respondent No.4 Sachin and Shinepreet Kaur (petitioner's daughter) were separately and jointly also taken inside the Chamber and were made part of certain deliberations in the presence of Court Staff i.e. Law Researcher Ms. Surekha and Usher Anand.

On being asked separately, Shinepreet Kaur clearly stated that her date of birth is 18.02.2008 and she being more than the age of 18 years, is entitled to stay with her own free wish and will. She further stated that she and respondent No.4-Sachin both are having friendly relations for the last three years and she is staying with him with her own free will. Respondent No.4-Sachin is keeping her nicely. Rather, on the other hand, her family members have been threatening to kill her in case she stays with respondent No.4 or goes against the wishes of her parents. When respondent No.4 was also called in the Chamber, he assured that he would keep Shinepreet Kaur under protection and no harm in any manner would be caused to her. He also stated that she is residing with
her own free will and wish and he is feeding her well by earning livelihood by driving a Taxi car.

Considering the aforementioned aspects, as stated by learned State counsel especially that both the children are above the age of 18 years, this Court does not find any substantive reason to continue with the proceedings in the present petition. Accordingly, the same is dismissed. Pending application(s), if any, also stand disposed of accordingly.
