(Oral) The petitioner has approached this Court seeking issuance of directions to respondents No.2 and 3 to protect his life as well as of other members of his family at the hands of respondent No.4 against whom the petitioner had lodged FIR No. 62, dated 17.6.2021, Police Station Shri Hargobindpur, District Batala, under Sections 302, 341, 34 IPC. Another prayer has been made for taking action on his representation dated 23.8.2021 (Annexure P-2) wherein in addition to a request for providing security, the petitioner has also prayed that the accused be arrested. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that on account of murder of his father on 10.6.2021, he had lodged FIR No. 62, dated 17.6.2021, Police Station Shri Hargobindpur, District Batala, under Sections 302, 341, 34 IPC, against the accused but till date the police has not arrested MOHAN SINGH 2021.09.21 16:46 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

- 2 - CRWP-9039-2021 (O&M) any of the accused and the accused in fact have been threatening to cause harm to the petitioner so as to pressurize him to compromise the matter. Having heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and while refraining from making any expression as regards the merits of the case, the instant petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2-Senior Superintendent of Police, District Batala, to ensure that the matter pertaining to FIR No. 62, dated 17.6.2021, Police Station Shri Hargobindpur, District Batala, under Sections 302, 341, 34 IPC is got investigated expeditiously in accordance with law so that a final report be submitted thereafter at the earliest. It is further ordered that the alleged threat perception of the petitioner be also got examined and representation in this regard i.e.

representation dated 23.8.2021 (Annexure P-2) be disposed of in accordance with law. In case, it is found that there is genuine threat to the life and liberty of the petitioner or to other members of his family, then necessary steps warranted under law be taken thereupon at the earliest so as to ensure that no harm is caused to the petitioner.
