By this common order, all the aforementioned petitions, the details of which have been given in the heading, are being disposed of as both the petitions involve the same question of law on similar facts. 2.
In the present writ petitions, the prayer of the petitioners is for issuance of direction to the respondents to defer the elections of Municipal Council, Ajnala till the delimitation of wards of certain areas is conducted as per law as certain area which is the part of the Municipal Council, Ajanala has not been delimited so far and residents of such area can not caste the vote
and can not contest the elections.

Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that till all the area which is within the limits of Municipal Council, Ajnala is delimited, elections cannot be held otherwise, the residents of the area which is now within the jurisdiction of the Municipal Council, Ajnala but is yet to be delimited resident of such areas, would not be able to vote or participate in the elections, ultimately causing prejudice to them and without verifying the said facts, the elections of municipal Council Ajnala have been scheduled to be held on 26.05.2026.

Learned counsel for the petitioners further submits that a similar petition with regard to Municipal Council, Kharar bearing CWP No. 147522026 titled as Kulwant Singh and others versus state of Punjab and others, has also been decided on 15.05.2026, by this Hon'ble Court, wherein the respondents have undertaken not to hold the elections till the areas falling within the jurisdiction of the Municipal Council concerned are delimited in accordance with law.

Learned counsel for the petitioners further submits that, as the claim of the petitioners is similarly situated to that of Municipal Council, Kharar, the present petitions may also be disposed of in the same terms and conditions as passed in CWP-14752-2026- Kulwant Singh's case (supra). 6.
Notice of motion.

Mr. Jastej Singh, Additional Advocate General, Punjab, appears and accepts notice on behalf of respondent-State. 8.
Learned State counsel concedes the fact that the claim of the petitioners in the present petition is similar to that of Municipal Council,
Kharar, in CWP-14752-2026- Kulwant Singh's case (supra). 9.
Learned State counsel, on the instructions submits that Elections though notified for the Municipal Council, Ajnala is scheduled to be held on 26.05.2026 but the same will be deferred till the jurisdiction to delimit the area which is within the municipal limit of Municipal Council, Ajnala is available with the State Government and such area is actually delimited to be part of Muncipal Council Ajnala so as to ensure that no prejudice is caused. 10.
Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that keeping in view the statement of learned State counsel, no further order is required to be passed in the present petitions and the present petition may kindly be disposed of in the same terms and conditions as passed in Kulwant Singh's case (supra).

It may be noticed that once the term of the Municipal Council, Ajnala come to an end, which is a conceded fact, the State Government will be within its jurisdiction to appoint an Administrator to run the Municipal Council, Ajnala till the fresh elections are held in accordance with law keeping in view the statement recorded hereinbefore. 13.
