The election of Sarpanch is scheduled to be held on 06.08.2017. The last date for filing nomination was 27.07.2017, which is over. At this stage, we are of the view that election process cannot be interfered. However, the petitioners have made specific allegations against respondent No.4-BDPO, who allegedly did not issue 'No Due Certificate' to the petitioners on time as a result of which they could not file their nominations. The writ petition is accordingly disposed of with a direction to the Punjab State Election Commissioner to hold a fact finding enquiry into the allegations made by the petitioners and if he finds any merit therein, recommend the State Government to take appropriate action.
