Prayer in the present Writ Petition filed under Articles 226 and 227 of the Constitution of India is for issuance of a writ in the nature of Certiorari for quashing the Final Seniority List dated 10.01.2019 (Annexure P-8) of the cadre of Assistant Professor in Law and for issuance of a writ in the nature of Mandamus directing the official respondents to frame a fresh Final Seniority List of the cadre of Assistant Professors in Law as per Chapter IV Rule (ix) (2) of the Panjab University Calendar Volume-III.

At the outset, learned counsel for the petitioner has referred to the stand taken by University in reply to para 11 and 12 of the Writ Petition. Para No.11 and 12 of the written statement filed on behalf of respondents No.1 and 2, reads as under:

2023:PHHC:114831 CWP-19396-2019 -2- "That in reply to the contents of these paras of the writ petition, it is submitted that there is no seniority list of the University teachers as maintained by the Respondent University for a particular purpose or different purposes. However, the University has initiated the process for preparing the master seniority list for teachers, so that there arises no confusion at any stage on the basis of Junior/Senior to each other. However, it has still not been approved by the Governing Bodies of the University i.e. Syndicate and Senate. It is worth mentioning that the respondent No.2 has provided the information with regard to the detail of confirmation and not any seniority list vide letter dated 10.01.2019 (P-8) as alleged by the petitioner." 3.
In reference to above extracted stand of University, learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the present petition can be disposed of by directing the Panjab University to finalize the Seniority List after following the due process.

Learned counsel appearing for respondents No.1 and 2 has not raised any serious objection regarding the said course of action. 5.
In view of the above submissions made by learned counsel for the respective parties, the present petition is disposed of with a direction to respondents No.1 and 2 to finalize the Seniority List of the University teachers, within a period of 6 months from today. 6.
Disposed of accordingly.
