Prayer in this writ petition is for quashing orders dated 04.05.2018 and 08.05.2018, Annexures P-16 and P-18, passed by respondents no.2 and 3, whereby mechanical mining from the river bed has been absolutely banned.

Learned counsel for the State, on the last date of hearing had submitted that this writ petition is rendered infructuous in view of order dated 02.10.2018 passed by the Department of Mines and Geology. The matter had been adjourned for today to enable learned counsel for the petitioner to verify the same.
