This petition has been filed under Section 482 of BNSS, 2023, seeking anticipatory bail in case FIR No.23 dated 13.02.2025, registered under Sections 118(1), 115(2), 3(5) of BNS (118 (2) of BNS added later on), at Police Station Patran, District Patiala. 2.
On 28.05.2025, the following order was passed:- "XX XX XX XX
2. It is, inter alia, contended by learned counsel for the petitioners that the petitioners is innocent and has been falsely implicated in this case. He contends that no specific overt act is attributed to the petitioners nor he is indulged in any such activity. He contends that, as per the allegations levelled in the FIR, only simple injury is attributed to the petitioners with stick, which is manifestly wrong. He contends that petitioners is not having any other criminal antecedents. Hence, the instant petition. 3. Notice of motion.
4. On the asking of the Court, Mr. Jatinder Pal Singh, Sr. DAG Punjab, present in Court, accepts notice on behalf of the State respondent and does not dispute the factual matrix of the case. He submits that the injury attributed to the petitioners is not grievous but simple in nature. He prays for time to file the status report/reply in the matter.
5. Adjourned to 08.07.2025.
6. Needful be done well before the date fixed with an advance copy to the counsel opposite.

In the meanwhile, the petitioners is hereby directed to join investigation within seven days from today and in the event of his arrest, he is ordered to be released on interim bail on his furnishing personal/surety bonds to the satisfaction of the Arresting Officer/Investigating Officer. He shall also abide by conditions as envisaged under Section 482(2) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita 2023 (BNSS).
8. Investigating Officer (concerned) to remain present in Court along with relevant records on the date fixed."

Learned State counsel has filed status report by way of affidavit of Inderpal Chohan, Deputy Superintendent of Police, SubDivision Patran, District Patiala in the Court today, which is taken on record and on instructions from SI Jaspal Singh, at the very outset, informs the Court that the petitioner has joined the investigation and his custodial interrogation is not required.

In view of the statement of learned State counsel, order dated 28.05.2025 is hereby made absolute. The petitioner shall abide by the terms and conditions envisaged under Section 482(2) of BNSS (erstwhile Section 438(2) of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973). 5.
The petition stands disposed of.
