S.J. VAZIFDAR, CHIEF JUSTICE:

The petitioners had earlier filed proceedings which were disposed of with a direction to the respondents to decide the petitioners' case within the period specified. The respondents complied with that order.

The petitioners thereafter filed a review petition which they are entitled to under section 15 of the Punjab Excise Act, 1914. The petitioners are undoubtedly entitled to have decided the same as expeditiously as possible. However, considering the ensuing elections in the State of Punjab and the possibility of certain officers even in Union Territory of Chandigarh being required to take on any additional responsibilities, we are inclined to grant the respondents' request to decide the review petition latest by 15.03.2017.

Mr. Sehgal, the learned standing counsel appearing on behalf of Union Territory, Chandigarh states that the matter would be decided by that time. The statement is accepted. 3.

The petition is disposed of accordingly.

Needless to add all the contentions of the parties are kept open including as to the malafides.
