(Oral) This petition has been filed, inter alia, challenging the appointment of second respondent as Associate Professor in Human Resource Department in the respondent University.

Learned senior counsel appearing for the second respondent contends that the petitioner has retired from service, and is drawing pension. Therefore, even if appointment of the second respondent is set aside, he cannot be appointed on the post.

In view thereof, no effective relief can be granted to the petitioner at this stage. A decision on merits would be an academic exercise. Therefore, this Court does not find sufficient grounds to interfere in the matter.
