HARSIMRAN SINGH SETHI, J. (ORAL) The petitioners are seeking a direction from this Court to respondents No.1 to 4 to protect their life and liberty as they apprehend danger to their life & liberty from respondents No. 5 to 10 i.e. parents/relatives of the petitioner No.1, as both the petitioners want to live together and get married at a later stage as petitioner No.2 is yet to attain the marriageable age.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that petitioner No.1 is already living with petitioner No.2 and his family & the family of petitioner No.2 has no objection in case, both the petitioners live together till petitioner No.2 attains the marriagble age. Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that the petitioners have threat to their life and liberty at the hands of respondents No.5 to 10 as they are not aggreable on petitioner No.1 living with petitioner No.2 before marriage. He further submits that as both the petitioners are major in age and can take their own JYOTI 2020.10.29 10:41 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document HIGH COURT CHANDIGARH

CRWP No.8848 of 2020 decisions and have decided to live together and get married at a later stage, the private respondents cannot interfere in their peaceful existence.

Learned counsel for the petitioners has drawn attention of this Court to the representation dated 23.10.2020 (Annexure P-5) made by the petitioners to respondent No.2-Senior Superintendent of Police, Gurdaspur seeking protection to their life and liberty. Notice of motion to respondents No.1 to 4 only. Mr. Sandeep Singh Deol, learned Deputy Advocate General, Punjab, who has joined the proceedings through video conference, keeping in view the service of advance copy of petition, accepts notice on behalf of State of Punjab-respondents No.1 to 4. Without making any observation on the merits of the case, a direction is issued to respondent No.2 to take appropriate decision on the representation, which the petitioners alleged to have made on 23.10.

2020 (Annexure P-5), expressing apprehension about danger to their life and liberty at the hands of respondents No. 5 to 10 within a period of one month from the date of receipt of the copy of this order. In case any merit is found in the representation, the appropriate action will be taken by respondent No.2 to ensure that no harm is caused to the life and liberty of the petitioners at the hands of the private respondents.

The writ petition stands disposed of.
