The present petition has been filed under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India, inter alia, seeking issuance of writ in the nature of mandamus for directing respondents No.1 to 3 to allocate the required official facilities as applicable to the Office of Mayor, Municipal Corporation, Bathinda to the petitioner, who is the Deputy Mayor and is stated to be presently officiating as Mayor.

1.1 A further prayer has been made that respondents No.2 and 3 may be directed to decide the representation dated 29.02.2024 and 13.05.2024 (Annexures P-8 and P-9 respectively). 2.

Mr. Anurag Chopra, Addl. A.G., Punjab, who has appeared on behalf of respondent/State in this case, pursuant to the advance copy of petition having been sent to him, submits that in case, any such representation is received in the office of respondent No.2, the same would be decided within a period of three months from today by passing a speaking order.
