Mz.Sudeepti Sharma,DAG Punjab Jaswant Singh,J(Oral) Petitioner was seeking quashing of the selection of Clerks reserved for Scheduled Caste category pursuant to the advertisement no.2/2013 vide select list dated 26.6.2014(P-9) and 4.7.2014 (P-10). In the alternative, petitioner was seeking appointment in the aforesaid category being higher in merit to the last candidate appointed in the category of Scheduled Caste.
The confusion regarding the candidature of the petitioner in the category of Scheduled Caste had occurred on account of mistake in his online application, wherein he had shown himself as a Physically Handicapped Scheduled Caste and had not applied specifically for the posts reserved for Scheduled Caste (Mazhabi Sikhs). Upon notice, reply has been filed, wherein it has been specified that on re-consideration of candidature of the petitioner under the Scheduled Caste category he has since been offered appointment as Clerk.
