By way of this petition filed under Section 528 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, the petitioners seek quashing of cross version dated 12.11.2019 registered vide rapat No.22 under Sections 451, 427, 148, 149 of IPC, 1860 (Annexure P-2) of FIR No.203 dated 31.10.2019 under Sections 326, 323, 34 IPC, 1860 registered at Police Station Goindwal Sahib, District Tarn Taran (Annexure P-1) alongwith all consequential proceedings arising therefrom on the basis of compromise dated 12.05.2025 (Annexure P-3).

Mr. Gautam Thapar, Sr. DAG, Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of the respondent-State. 4.

Mr. Ranjodh Singh Sidhu, Advocate accepts notice on behalf of respondent No.2 by way of filing vakalatnama and confirms the factum of the compromise having been effected between the parties and states that respondent No.2 has no objection to the quashing of FIR in question. 5.

Learned State counsel has stated no objection in case the FIR is quashed based upon the compromise. He further states that the petitioners are not involved in any other case.

I have heard learned counsel for the parties and perused the material placed on record.

In view of the above, even if this case is taken to its logical conclusion, it would only be an exercise in futility as the parties have already settled their differences, therefore, no purpose would be served in wasting the time and resources of the State in pursuing this case to its pre-ordained end. It would, therefore, be better to give a quietus to the issue at this stage. 9.

Accordingly, the petition is allowed and cross version dated 12.11.2019 registered vide rapat No.22 under Sections 451, 427, 148, 149 of IPC, 1860 (Annexure P-2) of FIR No.203 dated 31.10.2019 under Sections 326, 323, 34 IPC, 1860 registered at Police Station Goindwal Sahib, District Tarn Taran (Annexure P-1) alongwith all consequential proceedings arising therefrom are quashed subject to payment of costs of Rs.5,000/- each to be paid to the High Court Legal Services Committee.
