The petitioner is Gram Panchayat of village Ramgarh which seeks a direction to the District and Police Administration, Jalandhar, to take action against the private respondents who are alleged to have forcibly entered into possession of the Gram Panchayat land where the Gram Panchayat has set up Anganwadi Centre, Sewing Centre and some other common services also. It is alleged that the private respondents have forcibly occupied the land and no action is being taken by the police authorities despite the complaint made by the Gram Panchayat. If the Gram Panchayat is still dis-satisfied, it may initiate eviction proceedings under Section 7 of the Punjab Village Common Lands (Regulation) Act, 1961.
