RAJESH BHARDWAJ, J. (ORAL) Matter has been taken up through video conferencing via Webex facility in the light of the Pandemic Covid-19 situation and as per instructions.

The prayer in the present petition filed under Section 482 Cr.P.C. is for issuance of direction to the respondents to file status report and complete investigation in case FIR No.0004, dated 05.01.2021, under Section 306 IPC, registered at Police Station Sadar, Sangrur. Issue notice of motion.

On the asking of the Court, Mr.M.S.Nagra, Assistant Advocate General, Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of the respondents and submits, on instructions from ASI Sukhpreet Singh, that in the present case initially the FIR was registered under Section 306 IPC, however, later on, the FIR was converted into the offence under Section 302 IPC on 05.08.2021 and thus, Section 306 IPC has since been deleted. He further submits that the main accused in Section 306 IPC has died and now the investigation is in progress.
