By this petition, filed under the provisions of Article 226/227 of the Constitution of India, the petitioner seeks issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus, directing the respondents to grant him the benefit of promotional increments, after completion of 23 years of regular service, in view of the instructions issued by the respondent-department from time to time, as also in view of the judgments passed by this court in a number of cases.
In respect of his grievance, as also for interest thereupon from the date that the increment became due to the petitioner (as contended), till its realization, the petitioner is stated to have got issued a legal notice to respondent no.2 on 12.10.2020 (copy Annexure P-8), which has still not been decided.
