Prayer in this writ petition filed by the petitioner under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India, is for issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus, directing the respondents to grant annual increment to the petitioner for the service rendered by him continuously for one year before his superannuation and grant him all consequential benefits including revised pension and pensionary benefits along with interest @ 18% p.a.

Learned counsel for the petitioner, at the very outset, confines his prayer for deciding legal notice dated 03.02.2024 (Annexure P-3). CWP No.15962 of 2024 (O&M) satisfied, if the said legal notice is decided by passing a speaking order within a time bound frame.

Mr. Rajesh Sehgal, Addl. A.G., Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of respondent No.1 whereas Ms. Gagandeep Kaur, Advocate, has accepted notice on behalf of respondents No.2 and 3 and have no objection to the innocuous prayer made by learned counsel for the petitioner.

I have heard learned counsel for the parties and have gone through the record of the case.

Without going into the merits of the case at this stage, the present petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2 to decide legal notice dated 03.02.2024 (Annexure P-3), submitted by the petitioner expeditiously, by passing a speaking order, preferably within a period of 03 months from the date of receipt of certified copy of this order.
