(Oral) This petition under Section 226 of the Constitution of India is for issuance of direction to respondents for grant of additional increment on promotion/placement from Stage I to Stage II, Stage II to Stage III, Stage III to Stage IV to the petitioners, as per UGC Regulations, 2010. Petitioners No. 1 to 4 are working as Associate Professor, Petitioner No. 5 is working as Professor whereas petitioner Nos. 6 to 31 are working as Assistant Professor with respondent No. 1. Learned counsel submits that similar benefits have been given to similarly situated employees of other State-run Universities i.e Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar and Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana relying upon the said very clause of UGC circular. Reference has been made to CWP No. 30719-2019, decided on 23.10.2019 (P-8) titled as Dr. Khushdeep Goyal vs. Punjabi University, Patiala and others wherein the writ petition was disposed of by giving direction to the respondents to GAURAV ARORA 2020.11.05 12:28 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document Chandigarh
CWP No. 18183 of 2020 examine and pass a speaking order within a period of three months. Following this order, respondent No. 3 in the above petition passed detailed speaking order dated 12.06.2020 (P-9) granting additional increment. Issue notice of motion.
On asking of the Court, Mr. Ajaivir Singh, Advodate accepts notice on behalf of the respondent-Univesity. Without commenting on the merits of the case, this petition is being disposed of by giving direction to the respondent No. 3 to decide the representations (P-7 colly) by passing a speaking order, expeditiously, preferably within a period of four month from the date of receipt of certified copy of this order.
