IN THE HIGH COURT OF PUNJAB AND HARYANA

AT CHANDIGARH CRM-M-34539-2023 Decided on : 19.07.2023 Navneet Lakhanpal ...... Petitioner

Versus

State of Haryana ...... Respondent CORAM : HON'BLE MRS. JUSTICE MANJARI NEHRU KAUL Present : Mr. Talim Hussain, Advocate for the petitioner.

**** Manjari Nehru Kaul, J.(Oral) The petitioner is seeking issuance of directions to the respondents to expedite the ongoing trial proceedings in case bearing No.HRFB030061952020 CIS No.CHI/1066/2022 titled as State of Haryana vs. Navneet Lakhanpal etc. in FIR No.253/2019 dated 09.02.2019 registered under Sections 384, 389, 323, 427, 506 and 34 IPC at Police Station Sarai Khwaja District Faridabad. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that after the challan was presented in the year 2020, the trial had failed to make much headway as none of the prosecution witnesses have been examined till date. It has been submitted that on account of the pendency of the case against the petitioner, her retiral benefits have been withheld.

Heard learned counsel for the petitioner and perused the relevant material available on record.

SONIA BURA 2023.07.20 17:23 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

It is evident that on account of the outbreak of the pandemic, the proceedings before the trial court had come to a virtual standstill for more than a year. The charges were framed on 29.01.2021. A perusal of the zimni orders thereafter does not reflect any inordinate delay in the progress of the trial.

Hence, this Court is not inclined to issue directions as prayed for at this stage. Accordingly, the present petition stands dismissed. (MANJARI NEHRU KAUL) JUDGE 19.07.2023 sonia Whether speaking/reasoned:
