**** HARNARESH SINGH GILL , J. (ORAL) This is a petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India read with Section 3(1)(b) of the Haryana Good Conduct Prisoner's (Temporary Release) Act, 1988 for direction to the respondents to extend the special parole of the petitioner, which is going to expire on 26.9.2021, for a period of three weeks.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that in FIR No. 102 dated 21.12.1996, registered under Sections 302, 148, 149, 449 IPC, Police Station Salhawas, District Jhajjar, the death sentence was awarded to the petitioner by the trial Court and later on the death sentence was converted into life imprisonment. Learned counsel further submits that the petitioner has already undergone 25 years of sentence and he was released on three months' special parole by the jail authorities, which is going to expire on 26.9.2021. He further submits that now the marriage of the two nephews of the petitioner is fixed for 14.10.2021 and prays for extension of parole for GURPREET SINGH 2021.09.23 17:14 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document Chandigarh

Notice of motion.

On the asking of the Court, Mr. Ashok Singh Chaudhary, Addl. A.G, Haryana accepts notice on behalf of the State. He has not disputed the fact that the death sentence, awarded to the petitioner, has been converted into life imprisonment and that the petitioner was granted parole as per the directions issued by Haryana High Powered Committee, keeping in view the the situation arisen due to Covid-19 pandemic. In the present case, the petitioner has already undergone 25 years of custody. The petitioner was granted three months' parole, which is stated to be expiring on 26.9.2021 and the marriage of two nephews of the petitioner, who are soldiers in Indian Army and Indian Navy, respectively, is fixed for 14.10.2021.

Keeping in view the above, the present petition is disposed of with a direction to the respondents to extend the parole of the petitioner from 26.9.2021 till 26.10.2021. The petitioner is directed to surrender before the jail authorities on 26.10.2021.
