Present petition has been filed under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India read with Section 528 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (for short - 'the BNSS'), seeking issuance of a direction to respondent Nos.2 and 3 to protect the life and liberty of the petitioners and their family members at the hands of respondents No.5 to 8. 2.

Learned counsel for the petitioner contended that respondent Nos.5 to 8 manhandled and humiliated the petitioner in the presence of police officials and other officers, however, no action has been taken in respect of the said incident. The incident was also captured in the CCTV footage and a representation dated 19.05.2026 (Annexure P-2) has been submitted before the competent authorities. It is further submitted that the petitioner apprehends threat to his life in view of the upcoming Municipal Committee GEETA RANI 2026.05.25 12:25 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this order/judgment Punjab & Haryana High Court at Chandigarh

Mr. Subhash Godara, Addl. A.G., Punjab, accepted notice on behalf of the respondent-State and submitted that respondent No. 2 shall take appropriate action in accordance with law.

Taking into consideration the submissions made by learned counsel for the parties, the present petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2 - Senior Superintendent of Police, Sri Muktsar Sahib, to consider the representation dated 19.05.2026 (Annexure P-2) and to take action thereon in accordance with law.
