Through this writ petition, the petitioner prays for issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus to direct the respondents, who are officials, to ensure that the respondent No.6 hands over the complete record of the Gram Panchayat of village Anarkali, Block Ghalkhurd, District Ferozepur, to the petitioner.

The petitioner claims that he was elected as a Sarpanch in the year 2018 and was placed under suspension in 2019. The petitioner is stated to have been reinstated and handed over some record of the Gram Panchayat. The petitioner prays that the respondents, who are officials, should facilitate the handing over of the remaining record of the Gram Panchayat from the respondent No.6, who is a Panchayat Secretary to the petitioner.

Ms. Sunint Kaur, Assistant Advocate General, Punjab, has stated that the officials have already taken the steps in this regard and the complete record, if any available, shall be handed over to the petitioner within a short time.

Keeping in view the aforesaid facts, the present writ petition is disposed of, at this stage, with a direction to the respondent No.3-Director, Rural Development and Panchayat, Punjab, to ensure the delivery of the remaining record of the Gram Panchayat to the petitioner within a period of one month.
