JASGURPREET SINGH PURI , J. (ORAL ) Petitioner No.1 (girl) is of the age of 18 years whereas petitioner No.2 (boy) is also aged more than 18 years. It is averred that the petitioners developed liking for each other and are residing in live-inrelationship since 1.9.2021 as petitioner No.2 has not attained the marriageable age as per law. It is further averred that family of petitioner No.1 is opposed to the relationship and therefore, the petitioners are apprehending threat to their life and liberty at the hands of private respondents Nos.4 to 7.

CRWP-9255-2021 (O&M) scope of the present petition pertains only to the protection of lives of the petitioners. He has submitted that the petitioners have submitted a representation (Annexure P-3) dated 22.9.2021, to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Fazilka, Punjab, but no action has been taken on the same.

Heard. Record perused.

Notice of motion to respondent Nos.1, 2 and 3 only. Mr.Randhir Singh Thind, DAG, Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of the aforesaid respondents. Copy stands supplied. This Court does not wish to make any observations with regard to the validity of inter se relationship between the petitioners. However, since both the petitioners are stated to be residing in live-in relationship, the scope of present petition pertains only to protection of their lives.

This petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2 - the Senior Superintendent of Police, Fazilka, that representation (Annexure P-3) filed seeking protection of life and liberty, be looked into and contents thereof be duly verified and if necessary, requisite steps be taken, strictly in accordance with law for ensuring the protection of life of the petitioners.
