(ORAL) The petitioner herein had applied for the post of Constable under SC (M&B) Category in pursuance to Advertisement No.1 of 2016 dated 31.05.2016 in District Police Cadre (Female). Though the petitioner and the last selected candidate in District Police Cadre (Female) had obtained equal marks i.e. 26 marks, she could not be offered appointment being junior in age, in view of Clause 6 of Standing Order No.1/2006 issued by the Director General of Police, Punjab on the subject of recruitment of Constable (Male/Female) in District Police Cadre and Armed Police Cadre Police, which provides that while preparing a combined final merit list, in the event of two candidates securing equal marks, a candidate senior in age shall be accorded preference. The date of birth of the petitioner is 08.03.1995 and the date of birth of last selected candidate in District Police Cadre (Female) is 09.06.1992, thus, concededly the petitioner is junior in age.
In view of the aforesaid facts and circumstances, the instant petition stands dismissed, being devoid of merit.
