The petitioner seeks issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus so as to direct respondent No.2 - Director General of Police, Punjab to promote him from the post of Head Constable to Deputy Superintendent of Police on the basis of his achievements particularly his contribution towards computerization.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner had submitted a legal notice dated 8.2.2023 (Annexure P-3) to respondent No.2 - Director General of Police, Police Headquarter, Sector 9, Chandigarh, Punjab, but to no avail.

At this Stage, Mr. Inderpreet Singh Kang, AAG, Punjab, upon whom an advance copy of petition had already been served, accepts notice on behalf of the respondent-State.

Learned State counsel submitted that the authorities concerned shall consider the legal notice dated 8.2.2023 (Annexure P-3) submitted by the petitioner in accordance with law and the same shall be disposed of expeditiously by passing a speaking order.

In view of the aforesaid submission, the instant petition is disposed off with a direction to respondent No.3 - Senior Superintendent of Police, Kapurthala, District Kapurthala to consider and dispose of the legal notice dated 8.2.2023 (Annexure P-3) in accordance with law expeditiously preferably within a period of 4 months from today.
