The present writ petition has been filed under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India averring therein that the petitioners have filed an appeal, which is pending before respondent No.1 - Joint Development Commissioner (Panchayat Land), Rural Development and Panchayat Department, Punjab - alongwith an application for stay. 2.
Learned counsel for the petitioners has stated that the petitioners would be satisfied if a direction is issued to respondent No.1 to decide the stay application filed alongwith the appeal under Section 11(2) of the Punjab Village Common Lands (Regulation) Act, 1961 in a time bound manner and till then their possession be protected.

In view of the above, the present petition is disposed off with a direction to respondent No.1 - Joint Development Commissioner (Panchayat Land), Rural Development and Panchayat Department, Punjab - to decide the application (Annexure P-3) for stay expeditiously and in accordance with law and till such time as the application for stay is not decided, status quo qua possession be maintained.

Disposed off accordingly. Pending applications, if any, also stand disposed off.
