ARCHANA ARORA 2022.08.23 16:43 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document CRWP No. 7978 of 2022
IN THE HIGH COURT OF PUNJAB & HARYANA,
CHANDIGARH CRWP No. 7978 of 2022 Date of decision :August 23, 2022 Ranjana and another ....... Petitioners
Versus
State of Punjab and others ........ Respondents CORAM: HON'BLE MR. JUSTICE PANKAJ JAIN Present:- Mr. Vishal Sharma Haritwal, Advocate for the petitioners.
*** Pankaj Jain, J (oral).
By way of present petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, petitioners seek issuance of directions to respondent Nos. 2 and 3 to protect their life and liberty at the hands of respondent Nos. 4 to 8. Notice of motion.
On the asking of the Court Mr. Mohinder Singh Joshi, Additional Advocate General, Punjab, who is present in Court accepts notice on behalf of respondent Nos. 1 to 3.
As per petitioners, they have married on 17.08.2022 against the wishes of respondents No. 4 to 8, who happen to be the family members/relatives of petitioner No.1 i.e. Ranjana. Both the petitioners have claimed themselves to be major relying upon their Aadhar Cards indicating that petitioner No.1-Ranjana is 23.09.2002 born and petitioner No.2-Kamalpreet Singh is 1999 born. Without commenting on the legality and validity of the marriage, I deem it appropriate to direct respondent No.2-Senior Superintendent of Police, Sangrur to look into the representation dated 17.08.2022 (Annexure P-5) submitted by the petitioners.
ARCHANA ARORA 2022.08.23 16:43 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document CRWP No. 7978 of 2022 Keeping in view the fact that both the petitioners claim to have married, I think that if possible, respondent No.2 may call a meeting of the petitioners as well as respondents No. 4 to 8 in his presence, so that the parties get rid off their ill feelings and live amicably. The petition stands disposed off.
