By virtue of instant petition, preferred under Article 226/227 of the Constitution of India, petitioner has sought issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus directing the respondents to grant family pension along with interest @ 18% per annum on account of death of her husband-Balwinder SIngh. 2.

The contention of learned counsel for the petitioner is that the husband of petitioner namely Balwinder Singh was taken away by the nature on 07.08.2013 i.e. after the date of his retirement i.e.on 31.07.2012. After the death of her husband, petitioner being his widow is fully entitled for grant of family pension. Even, she moved representation dated 11.10.2016 followed by legal notice dated 09.03.2018 (P-8) but till date no action has been taken. He further submits that petitioner feels satisfied in case direction is issued to respondent No.2 to decide legal notice (P-8), in a time bound manner. Instant petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2Director General of Police, Punjab Police, Mini Secretariat, Sector 9, Chandigarh to look into the grievances unfolded by the petitioner in legal notice dated 09.03.2018 (P-8) and take a conscious decision, within a period of three months from the date of receipt of a certified copy of this order. 4.
