[1] The matter is taken up for hearing through video conference due to COVID-19 situation.
[2] An e-mail was received in High Court for release of detenuManjinder Singh. Gurpinder Singh S/o Late Manjit Singh R/o Village Hussainpura, PS Sadar Patiala, District Patiala made a phone call that his brother Manjinder Singh was forcibly picked up by the Punjab Police in Mahindera Bolero near village Khansian at Pehowa-Patiala road while he was going on motorcycle bearing registration No. PB11CT-9498. The e-mail was treated as writ petition in the nature of Habeas Corpus.
[3] Notice of motion was issued on 4th November, 2020. The State filed reply dated 7th January, 2021. As per the reply, the detenuPANKAJ BAWEJA 2021.07.29 15:40 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document HIGH COURT, CHANDIGARH
CRWP-9128-2020 -2Manjinder Singh was arrested in an F.I.R. Para-7 of the reply is quoted below:- "7. That Manjinder Singh son of Late Manjit Singh is arrested from his house by ASI Daljit Singh and police party of Police Station Mahilpur District Hoshiarpur on the directions of Deputy Superintendent of Police (Detective) Hoshiarpur on 17.10.2020 in case FIR No. 204, dated 04.10.2020 U/s 121, 153, 120-B IPC, 25/54/49 of Arms Act, 17, 18, 18-B, 20 of Unlawful Activities Act, 1967 Police Station Mahilpur, District Hoshiarpur."
[4] Notice was sent to the petitioner. None has put in appearance on his behalf. As per the reply filed, there is no illegal detention of the detenu. No further directions are called for. [5] The petition is disposed of.
