Sumit Kumar and others ..............Petitioners v.

State of Punjab and others ..............Respondent Coram:

Hon'ble Mr.Justice Jaswant Singh Present:- Mr.JS Rana,Advocate for the petitioners Mr.Manoj Bajaj,Addl.AG Punjab for respondents. Jaswant Singh,J,(Oral).

Petitioners, 32 in number, pursuant to advertisement (Annexure P-1) were aspirants for appointment to 1800 posts of Science Masters/Mistresses. They belong to General/Backward Classes category and participated in the selection process. Their grievance in the present petition was that due to non-availability of suitable candidates for the categories of Ex Servicemen (General Category), Ex.Servicemen (BC Category) and Sportspersons(General) category, 187 unfilled posts were required to be transferred to General/Backward Class Category thus entitling the petitioners for appointment against said vacant posts. Notice of motion was issued. Reply is yet to be filed by the respondents.

At the time of hearing today, learned counsel for the petitioners states that the present petition has become infructuous as petitioners have been issued appointment letters.
