Petitioner who is serving as Information Officer with Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee and posted at Sri Darbar Sahib,Amritsar has filed this petition challenging the order dated 25.7.2018 whereby he has been transferred from Amritsar to Sub Office of SGPC at Kurukshetra,Haryana. The grievance of the petitioner was that there was only one post of Assistant Secretary which is of the same status belonging to Category 16 which already stood occupied.

Vide order dated 17.8.2017 notice of motion was issued. Reply has been filed by the respondents stating therein that work profile of the Information Officer is to guide the tourists and other Sangat who arrive at a particular place and are visiting Gurudwaras of historic importance. It is further submitted that in Kurukshetra City itself there are about 5 historic Gurudwaras apart from various other gurudwaras of historic importance situated in various villages nearby Kurukshetra. CWP 20410/2018 -2apprehension of the petitioner that he would be asked to perform duties on a post having lesser status has also been denied and it has been stated that he will work at Kurukshetra only as Information Officer and will be paid accordingly. It is also stated that petitioner had worked as Information Officer at Kurukshetra from March 2017 onwards and no grievance was raised and further an order dated 18.8.2018 (R-1) has been passed in continuation of the earlier transfer order dated 25.7.2018,whereby it has been clarified that petitioner shall be treated as transferred alongwith his post of Information Officer from Amritsar to Kurukshetra.
