The present petition has been filed under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India for issuance of directions to respondents No.2 and 3 to protect the life and liberty of petitioners at the hands of respondents No.4 to 6.

Learned counsel for the petitioners contends that petitioner No.1 was earlier married in the year 2018 with respondent No.4 and out of their wedlock, no child was born. Respondent No.4 used to beat petitioner No.1 on the pretext of dowry articles and due to excessive harassment, petitioner No.1 left the company of respondent No.4 and came to her parental home and thereafter, she came in contact with petitioner No.2 and they fell in love and decided to live together. They informed their families of their decision, but faced strong objections. Despite efforts to explain that they are mature individuals, their families continued to oppose their live-in relationship and the said relationship is not acceptable to respondents No.4 to 6 and they are threatening the MOHD YAKUB 2025.05.29 17:12 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this document Punjab & Haryana High Court at Chandigarh
CRWP-5850-2025 petitioners with dire consequences. The petitioners apprehend danger to their life and liberty from respondents No.4 to 6 and in this regard, submitted a representation dated 27.05.2025 (Annexure P-3) to respondent No.2 but no action has been taken so far. 3.
Notice of motion to the official respondents only. 4.
Mr. Subhash Godara, Addl. A.G., Punjab, who is present in Court, accepts notice on behalf of the official respondents. Learned counsel for the petitioners is directed to supply a copy of complete paper book to learned State counsel during course of the day. 5.
Without commenting on the relationship of the petitioners and entering upon an exercise to evaluate the evidentiary value of the documents placed on the file, I dispose of this petition with direction to respondent No.2 to decide the representation of the petitioners (Annexure P-3) within a period of one week from the date of receipt of a copy of this order and grant them protection, if there is any threat to their life and liberty in accordance with law. 6.
It is made clear that this order shall not be taken to protect the petitioners from legal action for violation of law, if any committed by them.
