Mr. Arjun Veer Sharma, Advocate for the petitioner. Mr. Rohit Bansal, Sr. DAG, Punjab.
JASJIT SINGH BEDI, J. (Oral) The custody certificate dated 10.09.2024 filed by the learned State counsel today in the Court is taken on record. The learned counsel for the petitioner, at the very outset, submits that he does not press the present petition in view the criminal antecedents of the petitioner but prays that directions be issued to the trial Court to conclude the trial within a fixed period of time as the petitioner is in custody for the last almost 31⁄2 years.
Dismissed as not pressed.
However, keeping in view the prayer made and the custody already undergone by the petitioner, the trial Court is directed to conclude the trial as expeditiously as possible, but in any case not later than six months from the date already fixed before it.
