CORAM:HON'BLE MR. JUSTICE AMIT RAWAL -.- AMIT RAWAL J. (ORAL) The petitioner is a widow of freedom fighter and drawee of freedom fighter pension. Due to her illness, she could not submit her life certificate and on account of that her pension has been withheld since January, 2015. She came to know about the aforementioned fact when she visited the bank to draw her pension. The petitioner requested the Bank Manager of the concerned branch to get the pension released but he did not heed to her request.

Thereafter, the petitioner approached the District Freedom/Successor Organization, Gurdaspur/Pathankot for redressal of her grievance and the President of the aforementioned Organization wrote a letter dated 06.07.2016 to the Under Secretary, Govt. of India, New Delhi for release of the pension of the petitioner. Following a trail of letters, finally the Sr. Accounts Officer, Ministry of Finance, Department of Expenditure wrote a letter dated 01.11.2016 (Annexure P-4) to the Manager, State Bank of Patiala for release of the pension of the petitioner PANKAJ KUMAR 2017.01.16 12:20 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

CWP No.25836 of 2016 -2but till date, no action has been taken.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that he will be satisfied if a direction is issued to the 3rd respondent namely the Manager, State Bank of Patiala, Sahpur Chowk, Pathankot, District Pathankot to take action on the letter dated 01.11.2016 (Annexure P-4) within a time bound manner.

The 4th respondent is directed to consider the letter dated 01.11.2016 (Annexure P-4) within a period of two months from the date of receipt of copy of this order and if the claim of the petitioner is found to be justified, her pension shall be released within a fortnight thereafter. The writ petition is disposed of with the above direction.
