Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner had preferred an appeal against the punishment order which is pending before the IG Prisons, Punjab since 05.04.2022. 2.

Notice of motion.

Mr. Paramjit Batta, Addl. A.G., Punjab accepts notice on behalf of respondent-State.

As per Punjab Civil Services (Punishment and Appeal) Rules, 1970, appeals are required to be decided in accordance with the procedure laid down therein. However, the same ought to be decided in a particular period.

This Court deems it appropriate to direct the appellate authority to decide the appeal within a period of 3 months after giving a personal hearing to the petitioner.
