CHANDIGARH CWP-3357-2014 (O & M) Date of decision: 24.08.2017 Jarmal Singh ....Petitioner V/s State of Punjab and ors.

...Respondent(s)

CORAM:

HON'BLE MR. JUSTICE RAJAN GUPTA

Present:

Mr. V.P.S. Mithewal, Advocate, for Mr. T.P.S. Makkar, Advocate, for the petitioner.

Mr. Vikas Mohan Gupta, Addl.A.G., Punjab.

***** Rajan Gupta, J. (Oral) Petitioner has sought a writ in the nature of mandamus to protect his life and liberty and to look into his complaint under Section 31 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950.

At the outset, learned State counsel representing respondents submits that elections were held way back in the year, 2013. Deputy Commissioner, Ferozepur, has already dismissed the election petition preferred by the petitioner. According to him, this petition has been rendered infructuous due to lapse of time.

This court finds substance in the plea of the State counsel. Present petition is dismissed as having been rendered redundant.
