Petitioner has approached this Court seeking a direction to the respondents to consider the candidature of the petitioner under Scheduled Caste category for the post of Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT), Punjabi. It is submitted that petitioner being eligible applied for the post of TGT, Punjabi under Backward Class (BC-A) category as he belongs to 'Rai Sikh' community which was included in the Backward Class category. However, vide notification dated 09.05.2016 issued by the Government of Haryana, the said community has now been included in Scheduled Caste category. Petitioner thus accordingly prays for considering his candidature for the aforesaid post under the Scheduled Caste category. CWP No.20761 of 2018 [2] Notice of motion was issued in this writ petition on 20.08.2018 with an interim direction that candidature of the petitioner be considered under the Scheduled Caste category.

Learned counsel for the State has produced result of the petitioner in sealed cover in Court today. Same has been opened and perused. It reveals that petitioner has secured 94 marks whereas the last selected candidate under the Scheduled Caste category has secured 106 marks. Keeping in view the marks secured by the petitioner, no useful purpose would be served by continuation of the present proceedings, which shall be clearly academic. Result is handed back to learned counsel for the State.

Writ petition is disposed of accordingly.
