1. The present petition has been filed for directing the respondents to decide the representation dated 15.07.2020 given by the mother of the petitioner for issuance of the employment as per qualification of the petitioner on the basis of compassionate ground.

2. Learned counsel would submit that the claim of the petitioner was rejected only on account of the fact that the married daughter is not covered under the definition of family for purpose of compassionate appointment, whereas now the issue stands settled in her favour by the Division Bench of this Court in State of Punjab and Another vs. Amarjit Kaur, LPA-462-2021 and other connected cases, decided on 25.01.2023, whereafter vide Notification dated 29.01.2024, an amendment has been carried out in Note 1 (c) of para 3 of the said Scheme, wherein the phrase "unmarried daughter" has been substituted with the word "daughter". He submits that the petitioner would be satisfied, in case a time bound direction be given to respondents to decide his claim keeping in view the aforesaid MOHIT 2024.05.29 15:47 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this order/judgment

%Mr. Amarpreet Singh Bains, AAG Punjab accepts notice on behalf of the respondent-State and on instructions from Gagandeep Kaur, Senior Legal Assistant has no objection to the limited prayer made.

5. In view of the above and without commenting on the merits of the case, this petition is hereby disposed of with a direction to the respondents to consider and decide the claim of the petitioner, in light of the afore-referred judgment, within a period of 6 months, which this Court has no reason to believe the authorities would not address in a just, fair and reasonable manner. Upon doing so, after notice and hearing offered to her and if found entitled, grant the benefit forthwith. Needless to say, if the orders are adverse to his interest, the same shall contain reasons and the petitioner shall be free to seek legal redress thereupon
