After arguing at some length, counsel for the petitioner submits that he be allowed to withdraw this writ petition. He, however, submits that a direction be issued to the concerned authority to decide election petition expeditiously.

In view of the statement made by counsel for the petitioner, this petition is dismissed as withdrawn. The Election Tribunal may endeavour to decide election petition expeditiously, preferably within six months.
