Advocate General, Punjab. **** SHEEL NAGU, CHIEF JUSTICE (Oral) The petitioner has filed this first petition for grant of regular bail in case FIR No. 144 dated 24.09.2023 under Sections 22/61/85 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 registered at Police Station Dakha, District Ludhiana Rural, arising out of an incident where 345 loose intoxicant tables total quantity of salt weighing 42.9 grams 'Buprenorphine Hydrochloride' were recovered from the possession of the petitioner and his co-accused.

The petitioner is in custody since 24.09.2023. The investigation has been concluded and charge-sheet was filed before the trial Court where charges have been framed but not even a single prosecution witness has been examined.

Considering the fact that commercial quantity is involved, this Court declines the prayer for grant of regular bail to the petitioner for the time being with liberty to revisit the Court after examination of the main prosecution witnesses or if the trial is further delayed, whichever is earlier.
