**** Rakesh Kumar Jain, J. (Oral) This petition is filed for extension of parole, already granted to the petitioner, for another period of four weeks. The petitioner is 70 years of age and has been convicted for a period of 10 years in a case registered under the NDPS Act, 1985. He is suffering from Lumber Contusion with Lumbar Haemotoma with PIVD with severe backache. It is submitted that he is bed ridden and is not in a position to move. Medical Certificate in this regard issued by the Senior Medical Officer I/C Sub Divisional Hospital, Bholath, District Kapurthala is also appended as Annexure P-3. Learned State counsel has filed the reply and submitted that the petitioner has already availed 6 weeks' parole in the first half and 6 weeks' parole in the second half of this year.

It is also submitted that the petitioner can be taken by the Jail Authorities to the Rajindra Hospital, Patiala or PGIMER, Chandigarh for treatment of his alleged ailment. However, counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is not in a position to move because of his ailment and reiterated his prayer for extension of parole. After hearing learned counsel for the parties, examining the Vinod Kumar 2018.08.

CWP No.21142 of 2018 [ 2 ] **** available record and keeping in view the sufferings of the petitioner because of his alleged ailment, the present petition is hereby allowed and the petitioner is granted extension in his period of parole, already granted to him from 13.07.2018 to 25.08.2018, for another period of four weeks, i.e. from 26.08.2018 upto 23.09.2018 on the same surety bonds which he had furnished on 13.07.2018, with a further direction that he shall surrender before the Jail Authorities on 23.09.2018 at 5.00 pm.
