The petitioners, who joined as Constables in Punjab Police between 1998 to 2002 in Armed Cadre Police, have approached this Court seeking a writ in the nature of mandamus so as to direct the official respondents to step-up their pay to bring the same at bar with the pay of respondents No.4 to 15, who are stated to be juniors to the petitioners.

On asking of the Court, Mr. Inderpreet Singh Kang, AAG, Punjab, upon whom an advance copy of petition had already been served, accepts notice on behalf of the respondent-State and has submitted that the claim of petitioners shall be considered in accordance with rules and legal precedents. 4.
